• Hi. I am tasked with taking over a club website, never having done this before I am on a steep learning curve, and so learning as I go.
It’s a website for club members, we don’t sell anything, it just shows what the club does (Bowling in this case) and lists competitions, results, and information about the club for would be members or those thinking of taking it up.

What we need is a simple (& Free) plugin that will count visitors and page visits. Simply that. IF possible with no need to add coding, or a very good instruction on how to do it would be mandatory! I have read a lot of posts, ads, and ‘recommended’ or possible providers, most of which offer plugins that supply around 90% more info than we require, many need coding, and get seemingly very complicated with never ending ‘analytic’ reporting. In our case we need less not more!!

We are a group of a mostly senior age.
Thanks for reading this and any suggestions would be appreciated. I should add that we are not a rich club and cannot afford an expert webmaster to maintain it.

Win 10 PC ‘Local’ (no Internet hosting) site to practice on, so no risk to Club website. Using WP + Elementor, both up to date
    Many thanks
    Alan.

  • Is the site live? Do you have to display the page visits?

    Have you seem this one?

    Hi.
Thanks for the reply, The site is only live in my home ‘office’ I am using this as a learning test bed so I don’t kill our online website. The committee would like to see what visits are made, our webmaster passed away early this year leaving the site very out of date. Nobody seemed interested in it so I volunteered to do it.
    Moral, never volunteer….
Strangely enough the plugin you have noted is the one I tried to get to work on my local (Office) site. All seemed okay except I cannot get the coding to work, where it is supposed to be under F12 Console there is nothing showing.
I have somehow got the code to show on a page but as ‘code in a box’ not as a counter like 0001.
I have used WP Optimizer to clear the pages cache, JS & CSS but am at a loss as to what may be wrong.
Hence I was asking for a counter that did not need coding. If I can get one to work on my Local then I should be able to get it to work on the club site.
    That’s the theory anyway!
    Best regards
    Alan.

Did you add the counter code as shortcode block?

    What about this one?

Good question, I have no idea! I will need to open the site and try again, just part of my learning curve……….

I did see that but as I have WP 6.0.3 and this app was tested up to 5.9.5 I thought I’d better try for a more up to date app. Some apps are kept up to date more often, this one states last update 9 months ago. Could be fine but I wouldn’t know that. If it will do what I need I will install it.
I will not be able to continue this thread until tomorrow when I have more time.
Thank you very much for your help. I’ve spent days on this and not knowing exactly what the best option is due to lack of experience is frustrating. But then experience is only gained by trial and error.
    Best regards
    Alan.

    Hi.
I have installed Live Visit Counter, this works but gives a total visits on every page whether visited or not. I would assume that the home page would show total visits and individual pages would have their own visitor numbers? Maybe this is a lite version as the Dark Profile does not seem to be available, neither can I edit rows 2 or 3.
I will try to find out what the problem is with the Page Visits Counter – Lite and if this will show visitor total on home page and visitor #’s on each page.
    Regards
    Alan.

Thanks, there is far more involved than I imagined, so a lot to get to grips with. I am pleased to say that Strongetic (Page Visits Counter – Lite) has given me some suggestions that I will work on as soon as I can.
