• Hi there,

I’m an old WordPress.com user, and am now onto www.remarpro.com as I’m hosting externally through HostGator as I’m intending on using “Elegant Themes” for a new site.

I’m working through the step by step set up. And my trouble is that when I go to upload my already unzipped files from the WordPress directory I cannot select all (I’m on a Mac if that matters?!), so does that mean I literally have to select and upload each file one by one??? I started this, and it was so incredibly time consuming that I thought that there must be another way.

To confirm again, I’m using a MacBook Pro, and already have signed up to HostGator so I’m using the CPanel and uploading into my public_html folder – and the files automatically unzipped when they were uploaded.

    Huge thanks!!!!

Ok – Progress… I just tried going to
    https://example.com/wp-admin/install.php

And instead of it doing nothing, I got this message:

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

So now I have another issue, lol. I’ll double check the info I’ve put into the wp-config.php file……

https://example.com/wp-admin/ is a good place to start once you get wp-config.php settled. That will tell you whether WordPress has already been installed. If it has, you will be prompted for ID and password, and then get into the Admin panel. If not, you’ll have to try the install.php.

Ok, I had the incorrect password!!!

And I’ve gone to the install link…. and IT’S WORKING!!!!! Hoorayyy!!

Hey, Jonradio – You deserve the BIGGEST thank you. I really, really appreciate your time and support. What goes around comes around – so wishing you all the time and support from others!

    Cheers! ??

So glad it worked out! Appreciate the Thanks.
