• I’ve got a heavily categorized site, and send out two different podcasts every week.

Lately there’s been a lot of hassle with the feeds not working right. One of them will have some dubious issue which I can’t work out.

    Got the enclosure
    Got the RSS link
Nothing else in the way, it should be fine…

I was wondering: Is it a better idea to use a separate install for podcast channels?

Is there another way to edit the RSS data?

Looking at something like Feeder or even a simple tool like this it seems like there is a way to edit, or manage the feed information.

I thought WP was dynamic, and would update the feed info as it was edited in the post?

    confused.

    Right…

Well here’s what I’ve learned and done:

    1. If there’s an error in my RSS feed, it’s a mistake that i have made.

    (so ifixed it.)

    2. If the aggregator doesn’t pick up the correction, it is the application, and not the feed that has the problem.

I’ve noticed that despite the sudden flush of podcasting/RSS aggregation tools available, not all of them havethe juice to keep a fresh view of the actual feeds.

    How’d I test this:

after i saw that the first enclosure in the problem post was an image, and not the mp3 file, i deleted the image enclosure, and double checked the mp3 info.

For laughs, I changed the date of the post by a day.

    The RSS displayed correctly.

While pinging successfully to audio.weblogs.com seems ot be broken, Idid ping the pinomatic, and a couple other sites.

I checked the aggregation in “PlayPod” and it was still broken. Refreshing does nothing.
I checked the aggregation in iPodder and it was fixed.

Now my streams are up to date on several services, and the problems are solved.

Seems that once I corrected the feed, PlayPod was the hassle, and not the RSS feed.

    nice.

    and good to know.
