A Question about categories

  • Hey gang…

    I hope someone can help me. I have been reading to coex and lessons and working on a design based off of the theme “categories” found here:

    Here are my question in no particular order…

    If I am using the categories like a menu, how could I get it so that I have:

    Home ( with only MAIN categories in list)
    and when I click on a Category get a category page
    with only THAT category and its sub-categories.

    Is that possible?

    Secondly… this theme has coding in it to let each category have a different header image based on the category name… can I set it setup somehow to have the same image for all sub-categories under a particular MAIN category?

    Am I going about this all wrong?

    I like the look of this theme….but maybe I am trying to do something that is just beyond me…
