    Hi Jeroen,

thanks for this free and wonderful plugin. It’s straightforward and does what it’s supposed to do. With a little CSS it’s easy to almost completely present it as one wants.

I do have a question though.

Would it be possible to add an option in the settings of the plugin to change the following sentences:

    1. “Er staan op dit moment geen namen op deze namenlijst”
    2. “Er staan momenteel x namen op deze lijst”

As I see it, in future, people will not only use this plugin to make a list of “names” but it will also be used for whatever list they want to create. Cities, terms, pictures, apps, movies, music… you name it, people will make lists/directories.

In my case, I’m building a directory with digital/technical terms. It’s kind of weird to get the phrase “Er staan op dit moment geen namen op deze namenlijst” where it should read, “Er staan op dit moment geen termen in deze lijst” en “Er staan momenteel x termen op deze lijst”

Besides that, it is a way to let people who speak another language use the plugin anyways. Even though there’s no translation of the plugin in that language yet. (There should, of course, be a solution for the text on the search button as well to make it complete)

Thanks in advance for taking this under consideration. Keep up the good work!

    Kind regards,
    Dirk

    Hi @alfablue,

thanks for your kind words! I did read your message but it were really weird weeks timewise for me (kleine geboren!!). I did read the message on my phone but I forgot to respond.

Your request is a good one. To be honest I did not expect the plug-in to be used that much but people are indeed using it to create lists of thing I cannot even think of haha, so it’s a good request!

I do have to check if it would not break a lot of translations that are already in place. If I want to do a neat job on this, ideally all front-end facing translations with ‘name’ in there should be edited (and therefore translated again). The two sentences you provided are a start, I think there were some more on the submit- and searchform.

Also the language-part appeals to me. Although there are a lot of people who translate a little bit on the WP-Translate page, almost no-one is willing to verify so they can maintain the translations. If the ‘name’ is editable from within the plugin, that could just give a nice local touch.

Thanks again for your submission, I am really sorry I forgot to reply!

    Kind regards,

    Hi Jeroen,

thanks for getting back to me. I’m glad you’re considering my little proposal. I think it could be a big help
for all the non-English speaking people out there. (I’m in Belgium and I speak Dutch, so… )

I use your plugin for a technical term list. It works like a charm.

Would it be a good idea to remove the sentences that need translation, shown on the front end, from the core of the plugin and
give the user the possibility to use any sentence they would like to use?

    1. “Er staan op dit moment geen namen op deze namenlijst”
    2. “Er staan momenteel x namen op deze lijst”

These fields could be added to the settings of the name list. So, the users can fill that field themselves.
    It’s just an Idea…

Anyways, looking forward to your solution. I’m pretty sure it will only make the plugin better.
Thanks again for your time and effort!

    Kind regards,

    Dirk DV

    Hi @alfablue,

I think I have found a good way to implement this. If you update to v1.11, you can find a new setting at the bottom of the Settings page for your directory.

Would you like to try this and provide me with feedback?

    Kind regards,

    Jeroen Peters

P.S.: not all of the translations are ready

    Hi @alfablue,

the translations are also ready. Would you please check if this is what you meant? I am curious if this is a good solutions to your proposal.
