Hello, my client has this multilang website with Polylang plugin installed, and I was configuring SEO for him with my default preferred SEO plugin (TSF). When I reached “Homepage Settings”, this warning appears to me (for both meta title and meta description):

A plugin has been detected that suggests to maintain this option on the homepage.

I was just in doubt of how should I proceed with this suggestion (keep meta title and description fields empty?), so I thought it was a good idea to come here clarify.

EDIT: I’ve also taken notice that sitemap.xml is not being generated for the english version of the website (/en/sitemap.xml). Is there any configuration that I might be missing?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Victor!

The message means that you should edit the homepage titles and descriptions on the homepage-edit screen instead of SEO Settings.

If your homepage shows the latest posts and is not a static page (set at /wp-admin/options-reading.php), then it’s best not to populate any of the homepage settings and let TSF generate them for you. This edge-case is one of the many downsides of using a translation plugin, and we cannot account for such problems.

But, if your homepage shows a static page, you can edit everything you wish there, uniquely to each language.

You should be able to find the sitemap at various translation endpoints. Using /sitemap.xml?lang=en should work with Polylang — it has some issues with permalinks so I added that workaround to TSF.

Hi @cybr! Since my homepage is not static, I won’t be making any changes. I’ve also been able to locate the sitemap in ?lang=en. Thank you for your answer!
