• Hi All –

I started playing with WordPress a couple of months ago, and I have a site now that’s somewhat decent, I think, but I know it needs tuning.

Have been focusing mainly on a nice/clean aesthetic (by tuning a theme I liked) and providing some initial content. I have no intention of keeping the calendar in the sidebar – it’s just filler for the moment. I may even lose the archives (in the sidebar) — but it’s more a matter of what I can put into that real estate for relevance, aesthetics and perhaps eventual revenue generation.

Getting the site visible to search engines is turning out to be much more of a challenge than I thought as well! Is that just me, or am I stating something obvious to all of you? ??

Any and all insights, suggestions and feedback most appreciated!

    Thanks…

  • I like a simple site – less is more. Yours fits the bill. The original content is great.

My only suggestion would be to increase the font size in the navigation menu. I would also consider doing the same thing to the post content.

I might also consider playing around with different fonts, too. The one’s you are using certainly work, but you might find something a little more appealing with a little experimentation.

I really appreciate the review and comments; I’ll surely mess around with the various fonts in the coming days and see what I can do. Much appreciated!

wow, love the simplicity of this for what you are doing. This certainly opens my eyes to a blog theme versus what i am doing on a word press theme at https://www.retailguidance.com, let me know what you think, where did you get your theme and what is it called, love it

The base theme I started with is called Obscure by WPCrunchy. You can google for it – he has a free version and he’s been a pleasure to work with. I only wish I could figure out how to generate more traffic. I still need to open the site for user registration (and eventually advertising), I know — but I’d like to see a higher level of search engine hits first.

It’s currently, well, not very impressive!
