A lot of spam with ReCaptcha V3, no update V2?

  • Hello,

    Since i updated to ReCaptcha V3 im getting a lot of spam. Before i had 0 spam.

    I really love and appreciate the Contact 7 plugin, but since Google announced that ReCaptcha V2 wont dissappear and that they will keep updating it, why does is is take the Contact 7 plugin developer so long to update the plugin? So that users can choose between V3 and V2? Days have passed and still no update or a sign of it. Kind a disappointing.

    Im i the only one getting a lot of spam after activating V3?

  • V3 has to learn which traffic is spam and which are real users so unless you have a high traffic site this can take a long time.

    V2 works much better for low traffic sites, was silly to force removal of it by the author.

    I would just roll back to V5 of the plugin until they re-add support for v2.

    Just scroll to the bottom and use the dropdown menu to select the last version.

    If you ever need to do this with other plugins, go to the main download page for any plugin and on the right hand side there’s an option ‘Advanced View’ just above the ratings.

    Indeed. I just dont get it.

    We are also getting lots of spam with V3 on a low traffic site.

    I would appreciate the ability to choose V2.

    Crazy.

    Its just disrespectful from Google to think we like a badge on every damn page. Its just stupid. It distracts people from the actual content.

    Quick fix while you search for another product, add a Quiz

    [quiz quiz-117 “Which is bigger, 2 or 4?|4”]

    Delete ReCAPTCHA config from Contact Form 7 and download this plugin:

    Advanced noCaptcha & invisible Captcha

    Go back to Google ReCAPTCHA delete your Version 3 key (if you obtained one) and get your Version 2 site key and secret key. Back on your site, go to the Settings of the new plugin and add those keys.

    Then where you used to use [recaptcha] short code, use this for the new plugin [anr_nocaptcha g-recaptcha-response]

    Problem solved.
