A good compromise solution, so far
-
I’ve disliked the page builders I’ve seen. Partly because they chuck in so many features they’re difficult to use consistently; but mainly because once you start using one, you’re locked into using that theme or plugin. So, anyway…
Things I like:
– My main concern about page builders (being locked in) won’t apply if every WordPress site can use the same blocks.
– Much easier to learn to use than Divi etc. My clients can get the hang of this.
– A sensible number of block options. Don’t let this get out of control. Glad the layout options are simple.
– Love the simplicity of adding widgets to page content, not just widget areas. But will any/all widgets be addable or just a few core ones?
– Table of contents in right column. I find it almost impossible to teach users to use headings properly, so this visual aid might make it more obvious. But… would it be possible to warn when headings have not been applied correctly?
But not keen on:
– The extra code that separates paragraphs. That seems unnecessary. Text mode has become cluttered. Maybe only add code for blocks that are not just simple paragraphs.
– Excerpts are no more prominent, would be good to be choose to make those mandatory.
– Wouldn’t work at all until I switched off a plugin (iThemes Sync) that was conflicting. Can see there being a lot of similar problems.
Overall, this rankles with the developer side of me, but I know my clients would like it. It solves some simple problems for them. A good compromise, so far.
