From the ‘Likes Button Loading’ thread so as not to clutter that one up:

Your posts will be included in the WordPress.com Reader, if WordPress.com users subscribe to your site. But your posts won’t appear in the Topic Pages, since these pages only list WordPress.com posts.

I guess I meant the Topics pages. If they won’t ever appear in the Topics pages, how will .com members be able to subscribe unless they just happen to stumble across posts from web searches?

It’s OK if they don’t. I’m just trying to understand the process.

Next question … On my Dashboard, the Top Posts section seems to become inactive after Midnight GMT until about Midnight local time. Outside those hours, the Top Posts will populate, but during those hours, all I see is “Nothing to Report’, even though the View/Visitor counter increments on both the Dashboard and the Stats page and the Top Posts section populates on the Stats page.

It’s as if there is a mismatch in clocks somewhere, but I can’t really explain it.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

how will .com members be able to subscribe unless they just happen to stumble across posts from web searches?

They can subscribe by entering your site URL here, like they would do with another RSS reader like Google Reader:
    https://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/
They can also subscribe via the Subscriptions widget on your site, or via the link at the bottom of the comment form, or the “Follow Blog” link appearing when they Like one of your posts.

They cannot, however, find one of your posts in the Topics pages. They will only find WordPress.com posts there.

It’s as if there is a mismatch in clocks somewhere, but I can’t really explain it.

That’s possible indeed. Could you let me know your site URL, as well as your timezone settings under Settings > General in your dashboard?

Timezone is set for Chicago, UTC -6

I also posted this thread a while back, but apparently that PlugIn isn’t being supported, since there has been no response.

I didn’t think about it being JetPack related until I noticed the discrepancy in the Top Posts areas.

I checked your Jetpack settings, and your timezone is correctly set to UTC -6. I’ll try to reproduce the problem on my test blog, and I will keep you posted.

I must be having some cut & paste problems too. Links aren’t showing up for some reason.

When I said “I posted this thread a while back…..”, I was referring to this:

I ran some more tests on my own site, but couldn’t reproduce the problem. Could you try to switch to another Timezone format (UTC -6 instead of America\Chicago), and let me know if this helps?

    Thread Starter notawoodpecker

    (@notawoodpecker)

Not sure what good it’ll do, but I changed it and also changed the format from 00:00 to 0:00PM

Well, it didn’t do it today (so far) with Timezone set to UTC -5 (allowing for DST which doesn’t seem to appear when set this way as opposed to selecting a city). I set it back to Chicago and the information is still there. I guess I’ll see what happens tomorrow.

I posted too soon. It did happen again, an hour later local time, but still at 0000GMT/Zulu since I was set at GMT -5 instead of GMT -6

Would you mind going to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, and disconnect / reconnect to WordPress.com, to make sure that all your site settings are properly synchronized with your WordPress.com account?
    Thanks.

Done. I’ll check tonight again if I remember.

I’m not entirely sure it’s a JP issue, but I really don’t know where else to look. The thing that’s leading me to JP is the missing “Top Posts” entries on the Dashboard. The Stats bars load as do the “Top Searches”.

But there is also the Counterize issue which I don’t see as related to JP.

Since the problem happens with different plugins on your site, and since your timezone is correctly set in your WordPress settings, the problem might be related to your server; could you ask your hosting provider to check your server configuration, just to be sure?

Wouldn’t even know what to ask them to look at.

Oh well, not all that critical.
