a case of the YAPB (Yet Another Page Builder)
-
After all the hype Themeum made prior to the launch, we were anxious to give their new page builder a spin. It is a promising product – yet there were some “buts” to it…
Stability is an issue – it is still a beta, but often things just did not work, like modules did not get loaded and added porperly. Then there is the issue of the theme or better – the lack of. I would expect a page builder to come bundled with a blank canvas theme where it can really shine as you build pages from scratch. Also preloading a full page layout only makes sense, if you don’t have a surrounding framework that clashes in design. So overall, we really found no need to go after yet another page builder. So why should you? There are several strong and well-proven contenders in the market already AND – and that is probably the most important factor – as the Themeum page builder doesn’t really offer anything new. There is no fresh take on for instance the user interface. It actually looks a little old-timey, especially when compared to the Beaver Builder in particular, which is and will continue to be our go-to product at this point. It just delivers the better package with a fully integrated theme architecture and overall stable functions. But you never know – maybe the WP Page Builder will rise to be the best someday – but that day is not today.
