• Allows you to export as large a site backup file as you like, but anyone relying on importing the site again is in for a rude shock – it will cost you $US 69.00 even as a one off exercise if file size is over 512 mb!
No doubt this fact is buried somewhere in the documentation, but in my opinion, the fact that it is not bought to the users attention at the point of creating the export file is ‘underhanded’ – to put it diplomatically.

They exploit the fact that most people do not learn software by reading the fine print, and that by the time they need to import a backup, they likely no longer have a choice.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

The restriction comes from your server. It has a limit on upload size or max execution time or MySQL packet size etc.

Hi Yani – It appears that the restriction on my server goes away on payment of $US69 however?

Also, why is that same restriction not applied to the download size, or at least clearly shown beside the download ‘submit’ button, so as to prevent nasty surprises later, when user wants to import the backup?

Yes, the product that you get for $69 solves most if not all of the restrictions.
Downloads are usually much more permissive and without restrictions on servers. It is very rare to see the restriction on Downloads but very often on Uploads.

    scam.
