A bit Overwhelmed

I’ve recently put up a personal interest website – so there’s no business involved. I’m a rank amateur, but so far, so good. I would like people to find me on Google, so I’ve used Attracta to ID issues. Meta tags and meta descriptions is a big problem area – so I’ve been using your plug-in, and while not knowing what I’m doing it has really helped clean up some basic meta issues.
Here are 3 newbie questions, however –
1 I have lots of duplicate meta descriptions & tag titles, does

The first is the page, the 2nd is the NextGen Gallery I copied to the page, and the 3rd is the NextGen slide show that went with the Gallery2. I’ve just started getting ping backs (after I install the
plug-in. Don’t know if this is good or not?
3. Does Greg’s HP SEO help at all with permalinks? I don’t think
I’m doing right by permalink titles, but they don’t mean much
to me.
