Hey there – thanks so much for this plugin. It has been working pretty well for us, and we’ve been happy with it.

Recently, though, I’ve started receiving this error: “________ Event Missing Some Deduplication Parameters”

It has appeared on every one of my events. The plugin is up to date.

    Any help appreciated, thanks..!

Good question, and I will try to answer extensively.

    1. PixelYourSite will always add the required event ID parameters.

    2. Don’t add events outside the plugin, don’t install the pixel by other means. This is quite common! So, don’t use GTM, don’t add events with Events Manager events tool, don’t enable automatic events inside Events Manager.

    3. This message can be a false positive. You can test your events as explain in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqAIO1ONc0I

If some of your events don’t get deduplicated, try to understand how are those fired, because they are most likely not added using our plugin.

Testing on a live website can be tricky. You will see a number of deduplicated server events from your real users, and probably some processed server events too. That’s because the testing tool will not show you events fired in a different browser session, but will show your server events as long as the testing code is used.

So, it’s probably a false positive, but it’s a good idea to test your events.

Thanks for the quick response! Much appreciated.

I do have some events added through Events manager, but none of them are ones that I’m also tracking through your plugin. So, in theory, they shouldn’t be duplicates. Right? Or could that still be part of my issue?

The thing I find weird is that I’ve made no changes to the events recently, and prior to these issues everything is working fine. Perhaps a false positive, but still curious about my question above.

Events configured inside Events Manager WON’T be deduplicated, and they can definitely create problems. You need to remove those events.

To clarify this, events added inside Events Manager will not have the required event ID, so they will trigger such a problem.

Thanks – for further clarification, my understanding is that the events in events manager can still cause the issue even if the event is being sent only through Events Manager (so, the pixel?), and not through CAPI/your plugin.

    Correct?

    Thanks for being so thorough.

It’s simple: don’t add events outside the plugin.

    That’s even better.

    Thank you!
