I’m using the audio plug-in XSPF, and have it embedded in my <div id=”header”> on the front page.

It works OK there, but when I switch to another page the music stops. Is there any way to keep the music playing un-interrupted when when a guest switches to another part of the blog ????

Anyone know how to accomplished this, with XSPF or any other WordPress plug-in?

  • One used to be able to do something similar by use of a frame setup. I suppose you could try it with an iframe….

thanks for the suggestion — i’ll play around with the html code and see if i can get it to work… (though i seem to remember that iframe only works on selected browsers)

I don’t think an iframe will work here since the iframe will get reloaded when the page changes. I think you need to put the whole blog within a frameset where there are 2 frames: 1 for the music player and the other for the blog. Then you need to rig all the links to only change content in the blog frame unless linking out to another site. Seems like a big pain in the rear to me but it could be done.

Yep, frameset or a popup with the player. Ugh.

Your question, reworded, might be thought of as, “Hey, I have the word “fooness” on my page. But when I go to a new page that word disappears. How do I keep the word “fooness” in front of my viewers regardless of what page they’re on?”

In other words, it’s not really a music issue. It’s a basic web page/design issue (with no real exciting answers).

Heh, see, I don’t know enough about iframes to know they reload with page changes!

PodPress plugin gives you a pop-up option for the player. Maybe you could check out that plugin or their method.

well, i guess this is one of those problems that takes too much brain-energy to solve, so I’ll put it on the back-burner for now…
    thanks for the input…
