New Widget Location?

  • This must be a really simple question, for some reason I can’t find answers anywhere.
    Widget plugins is installed and works fine. I just want to add two new widgets to my site, where should I upload the PHPS files?

    I uploaded files at wp-content/plugins/widgets/
    and also tried the current theme folder.

    New widgets simply don’t show in the presentation/sidebar widgets page.
    Theme does support widgets.

    Is there a different folder to upload?

  • Which widgets are you installing? Did they come with any installation instructions or notes? (if not, check the author’s website to make sure no special installation steps are needed)

    You have to rename the files from .phps to .php in order for wp to recognize them.

    I just renamed them to .php, activated them and they work!

    I still have no idea why they were .phps, I downloaded several widgets, they all end like that.
    I just never thought of renaming before…

    they were named .phps so that they could be stored without causing problems.
