when I checked the site didn’t load slowly.
When Jetpack’s Monitoring agent notices that your site is down (or can’t be loaded in less than 10 seconds), it tries to load your site again twice from that location. If that fails too, it tries again from 2 other locations on 2 different continents, with timeouts of 20 seconds this time. If these 2 fail, we consider the site as down and send you an email a few minutes later.
We can consequently confirm that your site was too slow to load before we send out the email.
can I make a “feature request” to throttle back on the announcements
The problem here is that your site kept coming back up. If your site had stayed down the entire time, we wouldn’t have sent that many emails.
We could opt to stop sending emails if we’ve already sent 10 in the last 2 hours for example, but Jetpack Monitor then wouldn’t really be warning you about every downtime on your site.
changing the site down message to “site slow” if it does resolve after 10 seconds?
One could argue that if your site takes more than 10 seconds to load, a lot of your readers might have closed that tab and moved on to another site already. You’d consequently need to address that problem as well.
