• When I went to manually update the plugin to v8.1.1 (on WordPress 5.9.3), I got an update warning that some files could not be updated due to a permissions issue. (The warning disappeared before I could copy the full text.) This caused the plugin to deactivate, although when I went to the Plugins page, I was able to reactivate it and it now showed v8.1.1.

While I was dealing with that, my other sites automatically updated to v8.1.1. This apparently did NOT produce an error message; when I checked their respective plugin pages, both showed iThemes Security as activated and with the updated version number.

  • Was this the message:

The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.

+++++ To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes +++++

Yes, it was something like that, followed by a lengthy list of files.

Just to wonder it safe to update to latest version? or there will patches coming up later stage?
