7 years of trying

  • I tried GeoDirectory for the first time about 7 years ago. A few of the years I would dip back in and buy the full package to see how things were going. This (2024) is one of those years. 7 years later the documentation isn’t any better and now you have to email support. Out of the box the themes do not look like what the demos show. The UX and settings are not intuitive.

    While I respect the amount of work that has gone into GeoDirectory, I would be lying to the WP community if I gave it more than 3 stars. In 7 years I have yet to have one website that I was able to actually use it on because it just never turned out right. I don’t know that I could be specific because there really are a lot of issues. After many hours/days/weeks of frustration I would just give up. I am about at that point now. It has been about a month since my most recent purchase. I bought the all in one package this time and I’m not sure what the other two products do because I can’t get through one site with GeoDirectory.

    If you are looking for a plug and play directory option, I’m sorry but this just isn’t it. I’m not sure what the 5 star reviewers are getting but I would really like that product.

    Hi,

    I apologize for any frustration you are experiencing, which, if I have correctly researched our support system, seems to stem from issues with updating from GeoDirectory V1 to V2.

    GeoDirectory V2 was released several years ago and was a complete rewrite of V1. An automatic update was impossible at that time, and we made significant efforts to communicate this by placing large alert notices on the backend, writing blog posts, and even creating a video. Today, updating from V1 to V2 can indeed be challenging, and it might be easier to export the listings, reinstall everything from scratch, and then import them back.

    However, I want to emphasize that this is a special situation and not the norm for users of our plugin.

    The numerous 5-star reviews we receive are a testament to the fantastic work our support team does and the robust features of our plugin. While it offers extensive capabilities and can do much more than most other directory plugins, once users learn how to use it, it can accommodate almost every need.

    Regarding your comment about our plugin not being plug-and-play, I respectfully disagree. All our demos can be installed in a matter of minutes using the AyeCode Connect plugin.

    If we can assist you further, both Stiofan and I (as co-founders) are willing to personally handle your support requests to help you get started. We will do our utmost to change your mind about the quality of our work.
