• Ok, might be that it already exist quite a few posts about this, but not able to find good solutions on any of them.

I’ve updated to the newest version, and now I am not able to post new posts, or even edit old ones. Or, I am able to add a new post, but only the heading will be displayed, nothing in the text-field below. No messages when I save or publish the page, it just says that it is updated, but when I check, I only find a post with a title, and nothing else.

I thought first it was because I’d changed the wpconfig file with $table_prefix = ‘wp_2’; to get a clean database, but same problem when I went back to wp_.

I really need some help with this, just started with wordpress and is quite frustrated already. I can’t see the use of it when not able to post new posts.. Also tried to deactivate all my plugins, did not find any ‘cache’ to disable, removed the pingomatic and also tried to switch theme, nothing works!

    Sorry ’bout the frustration.

Does this mean that nobody knows how to fix my problem? A weblog without any posts is not that cool! =)

Might be that I am a little impatient, though…

Are you getting errors that you could share with us?

When you switched back to your (presumably) original WP database, the one that starts with “wp_” did you run the upgrade script to update the database?

    Something like: (your address)/wp-admin/upgrade.php

    (@kentendresen)

Well, I don’t get any errors, unfortunately! It just says that I’ve posted a new post, and when I look at the page, the post is there, but with no text other than the title.

My webpage is https://www.kenta.no, if you can see anything valuable there. Just started as you can see…

Tried the upgrade as well, but there was nothing to upgrade.

    Argh! =)

Is your theme meant to show the_excerpt() or the_content() on the front page?

Your permalinks are currently broke. Visit the Options -> Permalinks page and set them as you’d like and make sure that either .htaccess is writable or, if not, that you copy what it tells you into the .htaccess manually.

but wait… where’s the blog actually installed at on your site? Is it in the root (main) directory or a subdirectory?

    Thread Starter kentendresen

    (@kentendresen)

It is in the root… Is that not good?

    (@kentendresen)

Where can I find whether the theme is meant to show the_exerpt() or the_content()?

    Never heard about it, sorry…

My permalinks is working now, but the problem is still there.

In the root is fine. I was err..”snooping” to see what you had for plugins and couldn’t find the wp-admin directory…. err, no worries!

Looks like your permalinks are working now.

When you edit one of those two newer posts (that don’t show content), do you see what you wrote in the editor?

    Thread Starter kentendresen

    (@kentendresen)

I can see the title, but nothing else, same as it appears when published.

When I saved it, the text disappeared. Seems like that everything in the text form for the main post is just deleted, or not get saved any place. Happens both when just saving it as a draft, or publishing it…

Ah, ok. You save as draft and the text is gone? When you hit save as draft, “somewhere” on that page should be a SQL error, I think.

    Thread Starter kentendresen

    (@kentendresen)

Yes, I save as a draft, and the text is gone, just the title left again. I’ll just look somewhere for the sql-error then. Hahaha… I don’t know anything about sql other than setting up the database I needed to install wp.

I really appreciate your help, lets just hope that some sql experts can help me out on this. I have no clue, to be honest.

    ThX!

    (@kentendresen)

I tried to create a new page, and the same thing happened there. Just a page-title, and nothing else…

So the error is on both posts and pages…

Hi, I had this same problem. AFter digging around here, it’s the rich text editor. In Firefox, evidently it won’t let you add content. Don’t know why… Go to your Options in the admin panel, then the Writing page.

Uncheck the choice “Users should use the visual rich editor by default” in the Formatting section.

Here is the relevant post with the answer:

Also, I would add that I had not been able to use the ColorPicker plugin after updating to 2.0. Could not figure out why… but now it is back to working with the Rich Text editor turned off.

I’m having the same problem but I unchecked the rich text editor? I’m using firefox. Please helpppp.
