64bit utilites

What version of Ubuntu are you using? I’ve tested the binaries successfully on 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04, and 15.10.

Actually, nevermind that, the binaries are corrupted. Delete the plugin, and install it using the regular WP installer (or via the upload method). If you absolutely must use FTP or something similar, it has to be transferred in BIN (binary) mode or they will get corrupted every time.

So, they survived this time, but still can’t be run, hmmm. Brings me back to my original question I guess, which version of Ubuntu is that, and do you know if it is running a custom kernel?

Even better, now jpegtran works.
But other utilites still doesnt.

That’s as expected, I only updated the jpegtran binary because I wanted to see if it would actually work before going any further.

That does confirm some weirdness between 32-bit and 64-bit binaries, which shouldn’t really exist, because every version of Ubuntu since 12.04 has included 32-bit support. I’m going to have to do some thinking on this, because I really don’t want to go back to shipping two different binaries for every OS and tool. We already have 25 binaries included with the plugin, with just one for each OS and tool.

Were you able to do anything with the instructions in that article? If you have access to build tools, it’s best if you compile the tools on your system, that way they work as expected. You should also copy that custom build of jpegtran from wp-content/ewww/jpegtran to wp-content/ewww/jpegtran-custom so that it doesn’t get overwritten on the next upgrade.
