Agreed – 50 sites plus… all reset to alert of failed logins… COMPLETE BS!!!! How to blow it… by Wordfence.

Seriously! What a waste of my time. I have this installed on 60+ sites I maintain. VERY frustrating.

Accidents happen. Wordfence provides great value and the plugin developers work hard to provide a great security solution and to provide wonderful service.

Thank you Wordfence Team for giving thousands of hours of coding time and for providing the plugin for free to the WordPress community.

By the way guys, save yourselves some time and use a WordPress sites management console such as MainWP to configure Wordfence across all your sites.

Same problem here as soon as you update then all the “alert me” boxes. are ticked great now i have about 60 sites to run trough and re-setup.

Ps just did some and the settings save but about 5 min later we still get the emails and then i log back in and i can see that all the boxes have been reset again ??

Same here. Disabling autoupdate for now.

PS: Beware, not only some alert options but also other options are reset ..

    me2 :((

Same here – I have 50+ sites that went down last night. Wow, Wordfence, I expect a fix for this soon.

    Hi All,

We have released a fix that addresses a bug introduced with the release that went out 15 hours ago. The issue is that if a Wordfence options checkbox is unchecked and is different from the default setting, the release resets the Wordfence setting to the default setting of checked.

Obviously this is a significant issue which our code review and QA process missed. We clearly need to improve things further. We are already investigating how this bug crept into our release process without being detected and are putting processes in place to prevent this from happening in future. This will include additional QA, a more thorough code review and a few other changes.

Please update immediately. The new version, 6.0.20, is now available.

Edit: Posted about 6.0.20 at the same time, this post can be deleted…

    Hey guys,

Just echoing what Tim said. Sorry about the delay in posting here, we’ve had our CS folks busy in our priority ticketing system this morning.

We put out a release within the last hour that fixes this issue. Unfortunately there is no way for us to revert settings that were affected, so you’re going to have to review your Wordfence config and make sure you’re happy with the settings there.

As Tim’s post said, this affected checkboxes that were unchecked and that are normally checked by default in Wordfence. So if you have (for example) a setting that Wordfence comes with enabled, that you unchecked yourself, you’ll need to go in and uncheck those again.

Once again, we’re sorry about the inconvenience caused by this. We’ve been discussing this extensively this morning and I’ve just come out of a dev meeting where we discussed our process and how it can be improved to avoid this in future.

    Regards,

    Mark Maunder
    Founder & CEO.

Thank you Mark, Tim and the rest of the people at Wordfence.
