    Ahhhhh No Way ??

Just noticed on the dashboard the following figures.

    55227 products low in stock
    1316 products out of stock

However there is actually a total of 6,507 products listed. This can also be confirmed when going into Products under woocommerce.
Out of stock is also wrong by the way.

    Trash is empty.

    Any suggestions please ?
    thanks

  • Try deleting transients at:
    Dashboard > WooCommerce > System Status > Tools tab – 2 buttons.

Thanks for the reply lorro, just tried that however unfortunately no change.

I see there is also an option called Term Counts (recount terms). Is that something I could try as well ? Not wanting to just randomly push buttons ??

    cheers

    I don’t think that’s it but I’m sure it won’t hurt.

Regarding the 6,507 products listed, are they all simple products or are at least some of them variable products. Just wondering if the big number includes variations.

Good question, they are all Variable.

That said, what is variable at this moment are the sizes and colours, no pricing as yet. I guess that is a fair consideration, though I would hope that when it says number of products, it actually would be calculating the actual products and not be including all the variances ?

I could experiment I guess by adding a new Variable product without an extras, and then add one with, and see what it does to the numbers. I might try that. Will let you know.

    cheers

Looks like the “low in stock” database query is set up in:
    woocommerce/includes/admin/reports/class-wc-report-low-in-stock.php
Line 48 includes both products and product variations.

    Hi Lorro,

Thanks for taking the time to look into this further. Currently I’m doing a database rollback and haven;t been able to get on.

Well that’s not very logical, in my mind at least. As I see it, if there are 2 products, say a short sleeve shirt and a long sleeve shirt, each with a different product number, then as I would see it, there are two products. The fact one might be available in three different colours is irrelevant because they are all the same product number.
Unless of course each colour had its own variation of the product number, for example ABC-001 ABC-002 and so on. Then they would be different products entered into the system for stock control purposes anyway.

I would be interested in your view on this.

    thanks again
    Mark

Looks to me as though the query includes variations where manage stock is set. I think the database query count is irrespective of whether a product or variation has a sku / product number. An item does not have to have a SKU for it to be stock controlled within WooCommerce. Two variations cannot have the same SKU but as I say I don’t think SKUs matter for the purpose of this count.

Ultimately the exact number calculated is just a guide to the state of the shop and a metric that the vendor can use to judge whether a stock take is due or not.

    I see, fair enough then.

    Thanks Lorro.

    All the best.
