• I just noticed today that my backend has become unreachable with the dreaded “504 gateway timeout – nginx” errors. Upon activating debug mode to investigate the issue, I found in the debug log some messages about memory limits having to do with the Polylang plugin. So I renamed the polylang folder to polylang_bak and tried reloading my backend, no luck. I then renamed the polylang folder back the way it was and tried disabling lingotek by renaming it’s folder. Guess what, my backend is up and running again. Is lingotek causing memory issues in WordPress? or is it unreachable again, causing our wordpress servers to complain with the 504 timeout errors? In the meantime I unfortunately have to leave lingotek in a disabled state, which is unfortunate because it has been so useful…

    Hello,

Thank you for reporting this. We haven’t seen any issues like this before so I’m not sure what is causing the problem. Is there any way you could provide more info? Have you tried using Lingotek again and if so are you still having problems?

Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you yet, I’ve been traveling for the past week. I have just now attempted to activate the Lingotek plugin on my wordpress website, activation was not successful it produced the “504 Gateway Time-out | nginx” error.

From your error logs it looks like it is an issue with Polylang and not Lingotek. Did you ever get this resolved?

I had the same issue (getting “504 gateway timeout” with nginx in Backend”) and I have polylang installed but never had Lingotek. So it might be a polylang issue after all. I’ll share it if I find a solution.
