Three days ago, on two different sites (same domain, but one is a blog on a subdomain), the Broken Link Checker plugin logs started showing “503 service unavailable” messages on internal links, and BackWPup stopped working, giving a “The HTTP response test get a false http status (503)” message.

Since the only thing in common that I know changed on both sites was my upgrade of Wordfence, I’m wondering whether there could be any connection. It appears that the issue might have something to do with the canonical redirect, since if I remove the domain from the internal broken links, it appears to eliminate the error message.

Is there a chance that the issue is related to the upgrade, or should I look elsewhere?

    Thanks —

Never mind. User error. It appears that Wordfence had identified some of the BackWPup activity as a possible cross-scripting threat, and on the basis of that I’d blocked an ip address that should have been protected.
