    Hi there,

I see a new Facebook connection was added to your site around the same time you posted this thread. Did you manage to get this working?

If not, where exactly are you seeing that error? Directly on the WordPress.com interface while trying to make the connection? In the pop-up window where the Facebook authentication happens? Or in your site’s logs?

And at which point in the process does it happen? Before or after you complete authentication with Facebook?

    Hi,

I was getting that error on wordpress.com page while connecting my facebook page. I managed to make it work by de-linking jetpack from my wordpress account and linking it again.

Now the auto-posts are working fine but there’s no option to tweak it anywhere, like in what style the post goes to facebook. Any chance of adding this feature in future?

Thanks for sharing that feedback. You can certainly share that idea with the team through https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/new?template=feature_request.md

I just want to add that Jetpack actually has no control over how the post appears on Facebook’s end. Publicize only sends Facebook a link, and either the post title, or the custom Publicize message if you defined one, and that gets posted as the status update on Facebook’s end.

Facebook then visits the link, and generate the preview based on the information contained in the opengraph tags in your site’s HTML headers. It’s possible to control the content of those opengraph tags to some extent using a SEO plugin like Yoast, but the way the actual post appears on Facebook is ultimately in their control.

So unless Facebook starts offering more customization options in this regard, it’s unlikely anything that we do on Jetpack’s end can change how your posts display over there.
