• Hi!
First of all – I’m sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have no experience doing this and I’m learning on the way!

I have sucsessfully installed wordpress and started working on the webpage. From before I have only used a domain from One.com which offers a 1 click install process. This time I use another company, and I downloaded FileZilla and followed the instructions I’ve found online. My wordpress catalog is located directly below “www”. I then replaced the index.php file located above the wordpress folder with the wordpress index.php.
Everything is still working good in the admin panel, but when I go to the main link I just get a 500 Server Error.
Does anybody know how I can fix this?
Please let me know if I need to explain more, as stated this is all pretty new to me at the moment.

  • Hello!

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
