Hey everyone. Hope I’m posting the right spot.

After viewing my BWPS logs I noticed log in attempts from Morroco. BWPS already blocked the IP Address, but I decided to try the user agent ban.

I entered Maroc Telecom, clicked save changes and the page refreshed. I should of left well enough alone. I could tell that something was wrong and tried to delete the text I had just put in. When the page refreshed I got a 500 server error.

Now I am unable to even bring the site(https://suprs.net/site) up. I can access the cpanel and have noted other comments about deleting the BWPS files from the htaccess file.

I’d like to be able to log into the Dashboard, go to the plugin settings and just erase the text I put in and fix it but I have a feeling it’s going to be a lot more complicated than that.

Any suggestions? I’m running latest edition of WP as well as the plugin. Thanks in advance!

I have been dealing with a similar problem on several dozen sites in which I installed BWPS.

To regain access to the site, FTP into the site directory and delete .htaccess . You should then be able to log into the site. First, go to the Permalinks settings page and resave.

Then, you can deal with BWPS . The plugin incorrectly wrote to .htaccess, breaking it. This happened when the user agent ban and/or blacklist was activated. I don’t know WHY it happened; just that it did.

I uninstalled BWPS from all sites. I still have one site that is throwing a 500 error, even after cleaning up .htaccess and removing BWPS.
