    Hi,

There is some problem in writing the entire problem in one post. Hence, I am breaking this into 4 replies.

Need your help immediately. I am new to WordPress and I am just a day old in this. I was creating a website using WordPress for my site https://www.bgitl.com.

I created the initial layout and applied new theme “Delicate“. I created around 20 pages and filled up the contents for most of these pages. My website was working fine for few hours. I was trying out different options in the admin console and came across settings page where in there were two text boxes. One is Site URL and the other one is something like WordPress internal URL (I don’t exactly remember what it was). Both had the value https://www.bgitl.com. I changed the value of 2nd text box to https://www.bgitl.com/home and tried saving it.

Since then, I am getting error 500 on accessing the admin console using URL https://www.bgitl.com/wp-admin. On accessing, it takes me to https://bgitl.com/home/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https://www.bgitl.com/wp-admin/&reauth=1. I remove the word home in the URL and then it shows me a plain login page, without any colors and animations, whose URL is https://bgitl.com/home/wp-login.php. On logging in, it retains me in the same URL with 500 error.

When I launch the website, I see the site is up and running, but the theme is tossed up. It is no more available and I see random structure in the site. And all the links in website is throwing me error 500.

Can some one please help me out in resolving this. Its very high priority for me.

Appreciate your help and thanks in advance.

You have set one of the options ‘siteurl’ or ‘home’ to an incorrect value. You can fix this by accessing the database directly by whatever means is available to you (through your host?)

Find your wp_options table and change the optional_value back to the original value.

Or if you really wanted to do this, and you weren’t just having play, the process of moving the site is documented (and you could complete it)

    Hi GRAQ,

Thanks for your help. I would prefer changing the value in DB rather than moving the site. However, I don’t know the IP and login credentials of DB to access it. Also, I am not aware of what are the means I have to access it. Can you let me know where I can find these details?

You will need to contact your host/provider
