    Today I see that both my web sites are throwing 500 – Internal Server Errors.

    One is set to auto-update WordPress Versions, the other is not.

    None are set to auto-update plugins.

    Both are running on Godaddy using PHP 5.3

    One has an .htaccess file, the other does not. Renaming it did nothing.

    Any suggestions where to look next?

    Thanks!

  • 1. upload a file into public_html called phpinfo.php and inside it, put: <?php phpinfo(); ?>

    2. Try and access that file

    – If it displays a PHP information page – the problem is with wordpress – check the error_log for more information and post here

    – If that file also throws a 500 error, contact Godaddy – there’s a problem with your hosting account

    The problem magically corrected itself a few hours later.
    Thanks for your help. I’ll use it if/when it happens again.
