500 Internal Server Error – On 1st Activate – Help

    The error I received is down below. I Looked all over the net for a good image compression plugin, WP Smush was the most recommended and of best praise. I saw WP Smush was compatible with my version of WP 4.4.1. I installed from the WP plugin install menu when I clicked Activate… the 500 Internal Server Error was the next page I saw. I can’t open my WP admin page nor load any page on my site. One click and BANG! I hope you can help me remedy this problem. I try to write the plugins that I can, where my skills allow, for just this reason. Help please my entire site even the admin pages are getting the error below.

    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    Called my hosting company and they fixed the site… This WP Smush plugin broke my site. The issue may be the fact that my server is a Windows based not Linux server.

    Did you ask your hosting provider to check the server error log, this would give us more information so we can better understand why this happened on your site.

    They did check the logs, all they told me was that some WP plugins don’t work well with Windows Hosting plans. The web.config file or other Windows server files are sometimes changed of modified by the plugins.

    I panicked, but i’t all better now. un-Lucky me it happened on the weekend.

    Thanks for responding, we really appreciate it ??

    I’ll forward this information to our developer so we can try to make additional tests on windows server and see if we can find what is causing this.

    Having an exact error would help a lot and I’d definitely understand if you don’t want to go that far.

    I have just experienced the same issue, so it is not resolved yet, but it’s only been a week. I’m using Windows server with GoDaddy. I know, not the best host, but one of the cheapest which is what I needed.

    Will try and remember to update this with whatever I discover. Thanks.
