500 internal server error – help pls :)

    I didn’t hnage anything, site has been working perfectly for the past months, untill today:

    “Internal Server Error

    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/2.2.23 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.23 OpenSSL/0.9.8m DAV/2 mod_fcgid/2.3.6 mod_jk/1.2.35 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_bwlimited/1.4 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 Server at https://www.paperfish.be Port 80″

    I can still get connected to the server via FTP, I can’t login on my CP or webmail on the other hand. The website URL: https://www.paperfish.be.

    Can anyone point me in a direction please?

    Check your web server’s log file, that may tell you where and what is causing that 500 error code.

    Edit: @brandyliz unless you’re going to assist with this user’s problem please post your own topic. It’s considered rude to interrupt someone else’s topic with their own problem.

    you are getting this error because of some plugins. Some plugins try to change the permissions on your server. Uninstall the plugin and try to contact server admin.

    Hi guys,

    I got this mail from the host comp:

    Internal Server Error on server turtle0 (142.4.1.41)is being investigated and solved.

    Since I cant’t login on my CP / webmail, I assume it is a problem on server side. I checked my files, last modifications date back from April 19th, It worked perfectly untill this morning.

    Nothing has been altered in the WP datafiles since 189th of April…

    But: If the problems persists I”ll disable the plugins.

    Now where is that server log? lol

    That sounds reasonable if the problem is effecting other things besides WordPress.

    But: If the problems persists I”ll disable the plugins.

    Also a good plan. ?? If you need to use FTP or whatever filemanagement tools your host has provided you with navigate to the wp-content directory. Then rename plugins to plugins-old. It’s not elegant but that will deactivate your plugins if you can’t get into the WordPress dashboard.

    All right:

    It IS server related, since I can’t even connect via FTP now.
    It’s been down for about 13 hours!

    It looks like I gonna move to another host,

    I”ll close it down now,

    Sorry, I did not want to be rude but I thought that as it is the same subject would be more beneficial for everyone to post in this thread instead of opening a new one. I did not want to do more work to people who answer. I will open another thread.

    It is not a problem from the client side or the other. It is the issue from the server’s side on which your website is. Just check the error log and you will get it solved. It is a problem of permissions on the server as some plugins try to change the permissions on the server.
