500 Internal Server Error & Akismet not working

  • Hi all,

    So I’ve used Akismet in the past, but this is the first time I’ve installed WP (2.8.1) on IIS7 with a fresh install of PHP. I didn’t do the install, so I can’t give more info there I’m afraid.

    Here’s what happens. The Akismet plugin activates okay, but when I go to enter the wp.com api key, the page is blank except for the notification along the top – and it takes ages to load too. I didn’t think it was a big deal until I tested commenting and then I end up at a 500 Internal Server Error page – all browsers.

    Deactivate Akismet and it seems okay. I’m thinking it’s either a PHP config setting or a .htaccess configuration…
