500 Internal Server Error

  • I just installed wordpress in root directory and received email about successful instalation on my domain. But when I visit my home page all I can see is this error page and the worst thing is that my domain is in fact a subdomain on my 2 months old website which is hosted with another hosting company!!!
    When I want to login I get this:
    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    I tried to reinstall but it was the same story.

    Can someone figure this out?

    Have you checked the DNS settings for the domain? You need to point them to the host where you’ve installed WordPress.

    Of course. I was online with the guy from live support and we both find that everything is fine with DNS settings. He pointed me to another company which hosts my old domain.

    I am experiencing problems from the moment I installed WordPress through Fantastico.

    Now I saw my .htaccess file is 0kb in public html…

    This is the longest WordPress installation in my life…

    500 Internal Errors usually are from a bad .htaccess file. Delete that one in public html. Who is the host?

    Already deleted .htaccess file but it’s all the same.

    I too am having this problem and I do not have a .htaccess file. I can see my blog, but I can not access my site admin area of wordpress.

    try Download WordPress again and replace your copies of everything EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies. This should replace your core files without changing your content and settings in wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory.
