• Hi all,

we cant access our firms website at all
    this is our website :asarchitects.com

when we try to access it, it shows up as white and blank,
when we try to access it though “wp-admin” or “wp-login.php” it shows up as “500 internal server error”.

initially we had the problem where we cant access our admin dashboard, it would show up as “404 not found”
then we followed some of the directions on the forums to resolve this and we have seemed to messed it up a bit more.

    any help would be appreciated

  • 500 Internal errors could be related in general to .htaccess, memory problems or server side issues specially with PHP.

When did this error start, and what changes have done before the error showed up?

Have you done any changes to your .htaccess file?

Also, can you tell us your current server PHP version and config?

    so… long story short….

we were trying to update our website with a new template,
how ever we wanted to keep our old website running while we worked on the new website. In order to do that we looked for directions which were to give a temporary address for the website so you can work on the new template without disturbing your website. In order to do this we went to the settings and changed it in word press admin.

    then….

we got the “404 not found” error in both “…/wp-admin” and “wp-login.php“.

we looked further for help in forums which led us to accessing our “ftp files” in filezilla … editing the “wp-config.php” and adding “define(‘RELOCATE’, true)” before “thats all stop editing

which in turn messed things up even more,
website shows up as white and blank, and “…/wp-admin” or “…/wp-login.php” it shows up as “500 internal server error“.

this is pretty much what sums our list of what we did…

We need to undo what you did, get the site back online. Then duplicate it on a new subdirectory so you can work on your new template.

Do you have cPanel or Plesk…etc?

You need to access phpMyAdmin and edit site_url and home_url, in your database wp-options table. Set it back to what it was before. Also, undo any changes you have done to wp-config.php.

we do not have cpanel or plesk,

our hosting website is Yahoo, edited through wordpress
we dont have local files, every thing is worked through the “asarchitects.com/wp-admin

I can access phpMyAdmin through filezilla, but lost on how to access the database wp-options table. I am unable to find it in phpMyAdmin

Ive undone the changes to “wp-config.php” however the “500 internal error” is still there

would another option to fix this… be going to my hosting account and removing wordpress and reinstalling it? I understand our files will be lost but it will be a clean slate….?

No need for a clean install. Im not familiar with Yahoo hosting, do you have phpMyAdmin?

yes, we can access “phpMyAdmin” through “filezilla” on our
    “ftp.asarchitects.com”

phpMyAdmin is a tool I need to access, not its files. The fix is easy but I can’t do it for you without your login details.

Contact your host and ask them to restore your website from their latest backups.

    HostPuma,
    thanks for helping

we’ve contacted our host and we got it restored…. almost

website almost works, but things are missing

when we try to log into our “asarchitects.com/wp-admin” or “…../wp.login.php” we are getting “404-not found

ive already tried to do disable the plugins but that didnt work…

    any insights?
    thanks
