500 Internal Server Error

    I had my WordPress site up and running then starting the configuration process for the BulletProof Security. I got half way into it and was applying all the settings that the tutorial video instructed and it kicked my out of my site and back to page cannot be displayed. Now I cannot login to my wordpress site and need to get this resolved asap as I have put in over 8 hours configuring my brand new site. Please help ASAP!

    Error:
    Common reasons for this error are:

    Incorrect file/directory permissions: Above 755.
    In order files to be processed by the webserver, their permissions have to be equal or below 755. You can update file permissions with a FTP client or through cPanel’s File Manager.

    Incorrect Apache directives inside .htaccess file.
    Make sure you have not specified unsupported directives inside the local .htaccess file. Such include PHP settings and Apache module settings.

    How can I correct this and take off the plugin or get it corrected? I heard this was one of the top notch plugins to have but its crashed my site. Needing help please asap.

    I would prefer to answer that question in an email that you send to us directly instead of here. ??

    BPS and Wordfence are compatible with each other, but there is a grey area for us with the Wordfence Falcon cache feature. BPS is designed as a Master htaccess file manager. So as long as you add other htaccess code from other plugins that create htaccess code to the BPS Custom Code text boxes then BPS can manage all of that combined code – BPS .htaccess code and any other .htaccess code created by other plugins.

    Follow up: The BPS installation went smoothly with no problems by doing the normal/standard BPS Setup steps, BUT both the Wordfence and WP Super Cache plugins were deactivated on this site by the site owner. So logically my guess would be that there was some sort of conflict or complications caused by conflicting .htaccess code or settings in one of these other plugins. Normally adding any other .htaccess code created by other plugins to BPS Custom Code resolves conflicts of that nature.

    Note: normally I do not offer to login to websites because logistically I do not have the time to do that. This case was an exception because there were several unique things about this site that interested me. In other words, offering to do the BPS setup on this site was mutually beneficial to everyone.

    BPS is better than WordFence period. Both the Free and Paid Versions of BPS are better than WordFence.

    That said I use WordFence to shuffle off troublesome hackers that BPS blocks and logs faithfully. But who don’t get the message from going to google.com or to hackersarescum.html for the 500th time. WF works good for that and for letting you know a file has changed from the WordPress Repository.

    I like to keep the log files turned on so I know when one of the little twits is sniffing around. But I don’t like getting a log file every hour for 24 straight hours for 4 days before they go away. Yes BPS works. And in most cases, it is easy to set up.
