• Yeah, thanks for the heads-up

This error ( 500 Internal Server Error ) is currently killing my site, which I’ve done some of your listed steps like:

    Creating a new .htaccess file
    Deactivating and reactivating plugins/ themes
    Increasing the PHP Memory limits
Running a full scan on my site

But at the end, I came to realized that it was caused by the ithemes security plugin that i was using after i upgraded it to the latest version.

And now, I want to delete items attached with the ithemes sec. Plugin to install a new one, but I’m afraid of something why because I renamed the WP Content Directory folder ( Wp-content ) to wx-cccontent ( just using it as an example)

Running a site full of images which i wouldn’t like to loose them .

What would you advice me and how’d i fix this error messages on my blog without me loosing my rankings and my precious images.

starting all over from scratch again is what I’m avoiding – pls help me out.

  • Hi,

Have you had a chance to check your PHP error logs to see what’s causing the 500 error?

There isn’t any Security related reason for you to lose your images. Did you recently change the wp-content directory name?

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

    what i’m saying is this,
if i disable the ithemes sec. plugin that’s on my site, will it restore/ undo the default WP Content Directory that i changed then caused an image url breakes?

Secondly, tell me on how to completely delete/ uninstall ithemes sec. plugin files from a blog.

    because i want to:

Uninstall ithemes plugins without breaking my site ( Then install a new ithemes sec. plugin).
Change WP content directory back to wp-content without causing errors to my site urls, and
Tell me on how i should icrease the security of my site
