• I have a brand-new (version 3.2) WP installation in a directory called “example.com/wp” and everything seems fine UNTIL I create a basic new PAGE. (Let’s say I call my new page “new page.”)

After the new page is created, I go to view it and there is a 500 error.

In other words, if I go to example.com/wp/newpage right after creating that new page, I get a 500 error. Huh?

I’ve never had this happen in years of using the latest (totally up to date) versions of WP on multiple sites. Very weird. No idea what is causing this. Am I having a brain fart? Probably. This must be something super basic that I am missing.

But still, can someone clue me in? Thanks for any help!

May be something to do with setting “permalinks” to a “nicer” setting? And it tries to do stuff to my .htaccess file. But no idea what or why or how to fix.
