• OK, I see from many posts that there is a problem when a menu has two many items in it. My problem is that I started to create a second menu and put in too many items, running into the 500 error problem.

But now, I cannot load the menu editor to delete that second menu. When I go to the menu link on the control panel, I get a 500 error. How can I delete that second menu when I don’t have access to the menu editor?

The site itself is still working because I reverted to a theme that only has 1 menu, but I desparately need access to that menu editor!

I have deleted the themes that had two menus and I have tried disabling all plugins. No luck. I need some way to delete that 2nd menu…say from the database maybe? But I can’t find where it would be located.

  • Hi Shepherd,

It is very possible that you could fix your pb by editing the database manually. However, since manual editing your DB is a relatively risky operation, I would suggest you reset your file permissions first because your issue could be related to misconfigured file permissions.
Here is a post that shows you how to do that globally in your entire root folder.
However, (and I can’t stress this enoug), MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP UP ALL FILES FIRST!
If that doesn’t fix your issue LMK and I’ll walk you through the DB editing process to reset your menu options.

    Cheers!
