• Hello,

I’ve been using WordPress for more than 10 months. I have few plugins installed and everything seemed to work fine. My website is hosted at GoDaddy on a shared hosting.
Since 2 days, I’m getting 500 errors causing my website to be down almost all the time. When I don’t get this error, it’s taking too much to load. I’ve checked my .htaccess and tried few tricks but nothing.
I contacted the support team of Godaddy because I though that the server is down. Everytime they say that is up.
How should fix this problem? Is the version 3.5.1 not stable? I upgraded to the latest version when it was available…
How can I know what’s really going wrong?
    Thanks for your help!

It could be any other website. Hopefully, Godaddy will have a reply…

    Hey there…
how do you access the htaccess file?
this is the error I’m getting:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

the page loads just fine but when you click on the pages on my website you get this error!
I don’t know how to get help…is there a phone number you can call?
    Thanks again

This is the worst night ever! Now, I got a 403 error:

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache Server at espacefrancais.com Port 80

Is there still any other errors I might face? LOL
    GoDaddy, where are you?!

After 3 days of downtime, my website is back online! I hope the issue is resolved for real. Still don’t know about the 500 Server Internal Error.
I will keep my eye on my site for some time to see if everything is fine.
Thank you Cj for your concern and your support.

I still can’t upload or edit files. Is it normal?

    That is not normal.

I talked with my hosting team and it appears there was an issue with the permissions and possibly a failed install of WordPress MU. We were able to correct the permissions, but we recommend that you back up your database and re-install just to be sure everything is fresh and installed properly.

If you need assistance with backing up the database we offer this additional information here: https://go.me/fc

I was trying to ovewrite a file which is not related to wordpress. It’s outside the folder of WordPress.
Re-installing WordPress will fix this issue too?

What were you using to overwrite it?

Are you able to delete the file and upload it as new?

As it isn’t WordPress related, I’d be inclined to want to take this out of this forum and send the specifics to me in an email to [email protected] so we can take a closer look at that file and the errors.

Just let me know the ticket number and we’ll go from there.

Apparently the permission problem were resolved.
My website is running fine now with no errors at all and weirdly it’s fast!
Thanks for Cj for your concern ??
I guess I will mark the topic resolved now ??
