500 error server side after copying files to local

  • Hi, I just copied (copied only) all the website files for a client’s WordPress site over to my local computer and it seemed like as soon as I did that, I started getting a 500 Internal Server Error on the hosted site. Now, the site is hosted with GoDaddy and I’ve read that 500 errors aren’t exactly uncommon but the timing just concerned me.

    Can anyone think of a reason why copying a site to local via ftp would or could cause a 500 error on the existing hosted site? I have confirmed that all the files are present (no accidental move rather than copy or anything). Thanks in advance for any insight.

  • Hi SOMisICEMAN, your problem is with permalink, so goto admin -> settings -> permalinks
    and click only on save button. thanks
