We updated our site to php8 and since have narrowed down the few 500 errors to GiveWP. Debugging shows quite a few messages about deprecation, and while I’ve seen the other posts stating that this should not cause a site issue, it does for us. We can not load the dashboard on wp-admin and cannot create new pages. Only by deactivating GiveWP can we do those things. Maybe it’s the way the plugin interacts with something else we have, but it worked fine before updating PHP and it’s the only plugin showing when we debug.

  • Hi @scarlett-jo,
Glad you reached out, we can help with those errors you are seeing. I’ll need more information to get started:

If you are able (I know you mentioned the dashboard won’t load) send along your system information. You can do this by navigating to Donations > Tools > System Info (tab) and clicking the button to “Get System Report” and copy/paste that into your reply here. If you aren’t able to provide this, no worries, we’ll try to work around it.

I’ll also need the URL to your donation form so I can give things a look from the front end.

Next, send along a screenshot of the errors you are seeing, both the 500 errors, and the deprecation notices. We’ll need to give those a look.

And the last very helpful bit will be some steps to replicate. What are you doing when you see these errors? Are they present all the time, or do they happen only when you are attempting a donation for example? These steps will be helpful clues.

Deprecation notices are meant as a kind of “head’s up” to developers that something in the future will need updating, they shouldn’t be at the root of your 500 errors. In our experience, 500 errors are often server related, or thrown by a security solution. The more information you can share with me, the better, and I can do some digging to see what is happening.

Keep me posted here, and I’ll hop in. If you have questions along the way I’m happy to help!

    Hi @scarlett-jo,
It’s been a bit since I’ve heard back, and I know troubleshooting can need a little extra time. I’m marking this as resolved for now, but if you still have questions you can send them along here and I’ll be happy to hop back in.

This isn’t resolved at all. I had to uninstall it in order to get anything to work.
