500 Error appears apparently without making setting changes
-
Strange. My LAMP WordPress site started giving me the 500 Error today. But I hadn’t made any changes I’m aware of. The ‘solution’ was to rename BWPS directory to something else so it couldn’t be found.
Since I hadn’t modified any BWPS settings in a while, I’m thinking something else has modified a file that in turn causes BWPS to keep me out. I can see the license.txt file in my browser, but trying to load any other file throws the error. The drive light on the server stays on for the whole timeout period and a little longer, with apache2 sucking up all the CPU cycles during that time. I can’t find anything suspicious in the logs and I don’t believe I did any updates to any other plugins prior to the problem starting… which is a concern all of itself!
I’m running a BuddyPress site on the same server, also with BWPS and most of the same plugins… no issues with it. Wonder if anyone has an idea of where to look next?
