5 min install has taken 2 hours and counting

    I am trying to install the latest wordpress on my debian lenny linux.

    I was following the 5 min install guide but I keep getting an error (or the lack of it- get a white screen of death).

    The installation seems to have gone fine- I downloaded and got the wp-config.php all setup fine. After that I tried to login at this URL:

    https://urbansensors.net/projects/karmayog/groups/wp-login.php

    Its a brand new wp installation and the admin login is:
    uid: admin
    pwd: HpwX5^Td8rwN

    If you login, you can see that instead of showing the admin dashboard, it is doing the directory listing.

    If I click on the admin.php page from this directory listing, I get the “white screen of death”.
    If I click on post.php the correct dashboard is showing up.

    When I go to my actual wordpress site:
    https://urbansensors.net/projects/karmayog/groups/
    here also I get the directory listing

    Hence, it seems there is some php realted issue but I am not able to identify what the problem is. I have other PHP sites running on this same domain and there are no errors or problems that I am facing with regards to this.

    My PHP version is PHP Version 5.2.6-1+lenny4

    Would supremely appreciate any kind of assistance.
