5.5 update broke TinyMCE (classic) editor

    classic editor
    php 7.3

    since the WP 5.5 update, certain publishing controls are no longer working – for example, i can’t change any of the following:

    Status
    Visibility
    Publish
    Add New Category
    Set featured image

    none of the text linked controls are functioning – clicking on any of the links above either does nothing, or simply scrolls the page to the top

    installing the enable-jquery-migrate-helper plug did nothing (all caches were dumped)

  • I’m with OP here. The console is littered with errors. Most seem to be the MCE or have to do with wp-media.

    the only errors i’m seeing in the browser console are…

[HTTP/2 403 Forbidden 60ms]

    this is when i load a page/post for editing

    SOLVED: in my case i’m using Jeff Star’s 7G firewall (htaccess version) with the 7G Addon (perishablepress.com/stop-aggressive-scanning-uploads/) and the editor problem was caused by a bit of code in the addon – Jeff has since fixed the issue

    this also solved the console error i mentioned above
