• A poster with “Author” permission was unable to post. He had been complaining about this for over a week.

I had no problems whatsoever as admin.

Description: He could login, and access the wordpress dashboard, pages, and media sections. However, as soon as he clicked “Post” (to create a new post), or the “Posts” link (the one that shows all the past posts published) he would get slapped with a “The site is experiencing technical difficulties” message.

I switched his permissions from “Author” to “Editor.” Logged him out from all devices. Asked him to login and try again.

He continued to have the same issue.

I switched his permissions from “Editor” to “Admin” — considering I didn’t have his problem.

It worked. He can now “post” or access the “Posts” section.

Makes me wonder if the 5.2.1 issue has to do with permissions. If he hadn’t complained about it, I wouldn’t have known this bug existed.

Has anyone identified what the problem is? Maybe it is not permissions, but something else. You should be able to trust the person you assign “Admin” permissions for this to work. I do.
