Hey guys. My blog at https://nerdnirvana.org/ acts really weird sometimes. Once in a while, you’ll get these ads from Adult Friend Finder that will stick to the right side of the screen.

The only ads that I use come from Google Adsense. I don’t use adult friend finder, and I don’t intend on using it in the near future. My ads are also not placed on my blog since I don’t make a lot of money from there.

I checked with my friend, and he says that he gets them 1 in 4 visits, so if you don’t see anything the first time, try refreshing or coming back at a later time. I also don’t get the ads in Internet Explorer for some weird reason.

If you can clue me into what’s happening to my blog and maybe provide me with a solution, I will be forever grateful.

    Thanks for reading!

  • I’d suggest you run spybot, adaware, and anything else you can find that would look to see if you’ve got crud on your machine….

    IE – ActiveX
“Install SlotchBar and [other garbage] from ‘Integrated Search Technologies”

I’d start with Google …. and if you have any stat counters on your site, it could well be them.

May be the following script on your page?
    <script type=”text/javascript” src=”https://fastonlineusers.com/online.php?d=www.nerdnirvana.org”></script&gt;

i don’t think it’s spyware because i scanned my computer recently, and i still get them. plus, all my friends using firefox get them, too.

it could be the fastonlineusers thing, but i use that all over my site, but i only get the weird ads in my blog, so i don’t think it could be fastonlineusers….

    anymore suggestions/solutions?

    Yes – dump IE.

It’s a worm that says “Hey IE ! look over here I’ve got something lovely JUST for you” and IE – being the dumb idiot it is – says thanks.

    i did dump IE.

the problem occurs in firefox. in other words, my site looks perfectly find in IE but not in firefox. that’s what’s really odd about this…

Yes, I noticed you’re seeing them in FF and not IE. First time for everything I guess. Have you checked on mozillazine – https://www.mozillazine.org/ – to see if this is a known situation?

From the terms and conditions for fast online users

If this service is abused or have to many hits per hour, banners or popups could appear.

They don’t actually define ‘to many hits per hour’ so it may well be them.

yeah, i thought it’s them, too, but why would my visitors see them only on my blog and not on my other popular section–the games?

It is absolutely coming from the fastonlineusers code. I positively narrowed this problem down to their code on my website as well.

I was getting the same thing as you, along with several different toolbars trying to install on me while on my own website! Apparently I was receiving too many hits per hour(?).

After removing their code from my website, and following spyware removal instructions on MajorGeeks.com’s forum, I have taken care of these problems on my website and on my computer due to fastonlineusers malicious code.

Here’s the link to the thread noted above. Hope this helps!
