Logged into my site today and clicked the “Update to WordPress 4.6” – It looks as if I’m still logged in, since I can see the top black nav bar with my name, “customize” and the “Howdy. However, selecting any of these, even to log out, returns a message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_raise_memory_limit() in /home/content/54/7966354/html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 141

Tried restoring a backup from yesterday, and trying a new browser, but it looks as if I’m locked out.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

It’s possible that the update didn’t completely update all files. Download a copy of WP from www.remarpro.com, unzip it locally, and FTP it up to your site.

That’s a great possibility, Steve. Downloaded a copy, but what folder does it get uploaded to?

    Thanks!

upload all the files and directories that you unzip into the WP site (overwriting what’s there). Do not upload the zip file itself.

Thanks. There’s really not a way to deactivate all the plug-ins as the instructions say since I can’t get into the Dashboard. There are several places where wp-admin and wp-content folders reside, too.

There is also a folder that’s named wordpress-4.6-no-content-7cl9gl nested as wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-4.6-no-content-7cl9gl/wordpress and then there are numerous files as well as a couple of folders (wp-admin and wp-includes)contained in it.

I’m also considering just getting a WordPress plan and then migrating backed up files from a couple of days ago since this is pretty confusing for me.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks again!

There is, but that’s not really the issue.

You can delete that folder as that’s the failed upgrade. The fact that it’s there is indicative of the failure.

Just upload the WP files (and directories) into your site. It will give you a complete 4.6 file set.

It seems to be working now. Found out how to do a restore from a previous date, so I restored the wp-admin folder from a couple of days ago, and I can access the Dashboard again.

Thanks so much, Steve!! Appreciate the assistance!!

Ok, I just fixed it. I didn’t find the folder Steve mentioned but I just manually upgraded WordPress by deleting the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders, uploaded those new folders and overwrite the loose files in wp-content and the root folder.
