• Okay, I’m no stranger to http and 500 errors, however in the past I have always used a combination of fixes to right them, most of which have worked.

This, however, I feel is a bug in wordpress, as I cannot for the life of me figure it out.

when I try to upload naything now with the new version, I immediately get a http error. I hve never had this problem before. Uploading to nextgen etc is all fine, but uploading natively it just hangs on upload.

If I cancel, it just hangs as well. You cant cancel out of the upload – usually, sometimes you can get back tot he post. When you then try to go to media library and find the image, it doesnt appear as if the entire upload failed.

However! When I save the draft, exit the post .. and then return, and opent he media library, suddenly the images are there. If I am doing bulk of several, sometimes they are all there, sometimes none are there – its totally arbitrary.

Yes, I have done this and tested this with disabling all plugins, and doing a whole lot of standard things, memory is fine etc etc. Nothing has fixed this and its only shown up since I upgraded

I heard in this release that there were some changes due to vulnerabilities to the Plupload component that is used to upload media files … is it possible that there is some issue here with the changes that were made?

    thanks for any help.

  • Remember that when posting what seems like bugs in the current WP version, always check the ‘sticky post’ at the top of the forums first, this is where there is a “master list” of known issues and solutions if any:

    Your issues are listed there.

Okay, so its a known bug.

Unfortunately, the functions.php fix as indicated in that post did not work for me, so I guess I will be stuck until the issue is addressed and the next version is released.

    Quite frustrating.

I’ve spent HOURS trying to find a long-term solution while waiting for WordPress to update.

The image upload will work for a couple days then sporadically stop working, and eventually stop working altogether.

I disabled all plugins and switched to the 2016 theme. Works like a charm every time. If I switch to my custom theme it’ll eventually (after a few days) stop working again.

I’m on a shared server so I can’t update the Imagick module as WP suggests. I know that’s not the ultimate solution, but that works for now.

I’d also like to note that all the functions.php fix (as facter mentioned) and other htaccess edits didn’t work for me either… theme switching was the only crappy solution.

Hope that helps other people who cannot update the Imagick module! ??
