404 with new upgrade

  • Hi, my website has been automatically updated, and now I can’t write a post.

    When I click on New Post, through three different routes, I get 404.

    The upgrade message is different this time — it says Welcome To New WordPress site, which is odd. Gives me options of creating first post — which doesn’t work either.

    Any suggestions on how to reset this?

    I think your update may have failed part way through, resulting in incompatible code mixed together. I recommend doing a manual update. Please use a fresh WP download as the file source.

    Also be sure your .htaccess file (assuming Apache server) has at least the basic WP rewrite rules.
